Research and Planning: Music Magazine Double Page Spread Draft

This is my draft for my music magazine double page spread. I plan to make my double page spread story about a rock music artist. The title will most likely be the name of the artist while the information beneath will probably be an interview.

Research and Planning: Double Page Spread Analysis

This double page spread's genre is punk rock; you can tell this because the font for the title is big, bold and it is very edgy. Another reason you can tell this is a rock magazine, is the fact that 'Blink-182' is placed in the top corner: and 'Blink-182' are a well known punk rock band. The colour scheme used in this double page spread is black,red and white: which is a typical colour scheme. The layout of this double page spread is quite even and tidy for a rock music magazine however the the title is big, bold and seems loud which resembles and relates to rock music. All of the information is squeezed into one corner to make room for the title and the image of the model. The model is represented as a typical punk rock music fan/musician as the clothes he is wearing are all black. Also, his facial expression is strange for any genre although it is unique and diverse which is typical for a punk rock music magazine unlike pop where the model usually uses the same smiling pose. The audience of this magazine is probably around the age of 15-25 and is for fans of punk rock music; you can tell this because of the fonts and colour scheme used.

Research and Planning: Contents Page Analysis

This contents page has an image of a rockstar who is represented as a typical rockstar as he is dressed in all black clothing with a leather jacket. Also, this contents page mixes the relaxed layout of a rock magazine and a tidy layout where the information is placed. This contents page follows the colour scheme of black, white and yellow which is is reasonably common in rock magazines. The title of the contents page is done in the magazines masthead font which represents rock music as it is big and bold and has an edgy design. The target audience for this magazine is teenagers/young adults who are fans of rock music.

I am planning on giving this questionnaire out to a group of teenagers (who are inside my target audience age range) to get feedback on how to create a better magazine.
